Before & After
Case Details
This patient in her 70s presented with concerns that her eyes appeared tired and desired natural, brighter eyes.
On evaluation, Dr. Phan noted reduced eye openings, wherein the eyelid margins rested at or near the center of the pupils, also known as lid ptosis. This change was caused by thinning, stretching, and weakening of the muscles responsible for lifting the upper eyelids. Dr. Phan also noted heavy hooding of the eyelid folds, due to thinning, stretching and redundancy of the eyelid skin.
To address both the lid ptosis and dermatochalasis, Dr. Phan recommended combining bilateral external ptosis repair and blepharoplasty. Through carefully placed incisions hidden within the natural eyelid creases, Dr. Phan tightened the levator muscles to improve eyelid elevation and conservatively removed excess skin to soften the lid folds.
Patient, pictured here 1-month post bilateral external ptosis repair and blepharoplasty, demonstrated natural restoration of her eyes. Patient looked harmoniously refreshed and not overdone.
