Before & After
Case Details
This patient in her 70s presented with concerns for her eyes appearing tired and asymmetrical. She recalled having more double eyelids in her youth.
On evaluation, Dr. Phan noted right worse than left lid ptosis and dermatachalasis. The former was due to thinning, stretching and weakening of the muscles responsible for lifting the upper eyelids up, and the latter was due to thinning, stretching and redundancy of the eyelid skin. To address both the lid ptosis and dermatochalasis through single incision, Dr. Phan recommended bilateral external ptosis repair and blepharoplasty. Through incisions hidden in the eyelid creases, Dr. Phan tightened the levator muscles to improve eyelid elevation and conservatively removed excess skin to recreate a more youthful lid contour.
Patient, pictured here 5-month post bilateral external ptosis repair and blepharoplasty, demonstrated naturally brighter, more symmetrical eyes and more defined double eyelid folds. Her results look refreshed and harmonious — a subtle restoration to what she remembered from her younger years, without appearing overdone.
