Case Details
This long-time patient returned in her 90s with concerns that she looked tired and older than she felt, as well as being extremely bothered by the asymmetries of her eyes.
On evaluation, Dr. Phan noted drooping of the eyebrows and eyelids on both sides, the right though being the worse side. To address the brow and eyelid ptosis, Dr. Phan recommended brow lift and ptosis repair, respectively.
There are multiple ways to lift the brows, with incisions made behind the hairline, in the forehead rhytid or at the upper edge of the eyebrow. (See blog for more discussion on different brow lifts.) There are also couple of ways to lift the eyelids. The incisions may be made internally on the underside of the eyelid, or externally through the skin, to access the muscles responsible for opening the eyes.
In this case, given the prominent forehead rhytid and positive response to phenylephrine test, we proceeded with bilateral brow lift via the forehead rhytid and internal ptosis repair. (See blog for discussion on when to do which ptosis repair.)
Patient, pictured here 2-months post bilateral brow lift and internal ptosis repair, demonstrated elevated and symmetric eyebrows and eyelids. Patient appeared brighter, more engaging, and, most importantly, herself again.
