Case Details
This patient in her 50s presented with the concern that her left eye appeared small and created obvious asymmetry between the eyes.
On evaluation, Dr. Phan noted left eyelid margin resting near the center of the pupil, a finding of lid ptosis. This occurred as the muscles responsible for lifting the eyelid thinned, stretched and weakened. To address this, Dr. Phan recommended left internal ptosis repair. Through an incision on the back side of the eyelid, the Muller muscle was shortened and tightened, allowing it lift the eyelid more effectively.
Patient, pictured here 1-month post left internal ptosis repair, demonstrated naturally restoration of the left eye opening and thus more balanced, symmetrical eyes.
