Case Details
This patient presented with biopsy-proven basal cell carcinoma at the center of the left eyelid. Dr. Phan recommended resection with immediate reconstruction on the same day. 1/3-1/2 of the eyelid was excised in a full-thickness fashion to completely remove the skin cancer. Muscle-skin flap from the lateral canthus and temple and graft from the backside of the upper eyelid were used to lengthen the lower eyelid horizontally and vertically, respectively. This allowed for the eyelid margin and lash line to reapproximate with internal and external sutures.
Patient, pictured here 4-month after left lower lid basal cell carcinoma resection and reconstruction, demonstrated harmonious restoration of the eyelid, with improve height and contour.
