Case Details
This patient in her 20s presented with the concern that her eyelids appeared asymmetrical. There was a crease and thus double eyelid on the right and not on the left.
During evaluation, Dr. Phan noted ill-formed crease on the left. Dr. Phan recommended Asian blepharoplasty on the left side, using the existing crease. Conforming to the patient's desire for less surgery on the right, Dr. Phan recommended a pinch of skin removal on the right, which would help balance the upper skin folds.
Patient pictured here 3-months post right skin only blepharoplasty and left Asian blepharoplasty. There was overall improvement in symmetry.
(Of note, when doing Asian blepharoplasty, it is typically more ideal to do it bilaterally to achieve the same depth of creases. The surgical crease almost always becomes deeper and more prominent than the natural crease.)
