Case Details
This patient in her 60s presented with concerns that her eyelids appeared heavy and asymmetric.
On evaluation, Dr. Phan noted asymmetric drooping of the eyebrows, the right side being more pronounced. In addition to the brow ptosis, Dr. Phan also noted thick and redundant skin folds, as well as eyelid ptosis. To address all of these concerns, combination of procedures would be considered, including brow ptosis to stabilize the brows, blepharoplasty to remove the excess skin, and ptosis repair to enlarge the eye opening.
In patients with thicker upper eyelid skin folds, a brow lift often serves to stabilize the brow position than to create a dramatic lift. For these patients, Dr. Phan often favors a sub-brow blepharoplasty rather than a traditional crease blepharoplasty. However, in this case, to improve symmetry while preserving the patient’s natural appearance and avoiding an overly different look, Dr. Phan proceeded with a brow lift and upper blepharoplasty through the eyelid crease.
Patient, pictured here 1-month post bilateral brow lift and blepharoplasty, demonstrated reduce the heavy hoodings and more symmetry of the eyelid folds. The result was the subtle rejuvenation patient desired.
