Case Details
This patient in her 70s presented with concerns that her eyes appeared small and made her look tired, not the way she felt.
On evaluation, Dr. Phan noted reduced eye openings, with eyelid margins resting near the center of the pupils, known as lid ptosis. This change was caused by thinning, stretching, and weakening of the muscles responsible for lifting the upper eyelids.
To address the ptosis, Dr. Phan recommended bilateral internal ptosis repair. Through carefully placed incisions hidden on the backside of the eyelids, Dr. Phan tightened the Müller’s muscles by excising a segment of the tendons, allowing the eyelids to lift more effectively.
Patient, pictured here 2-months post bilateral internal ptosis repair, demonstrated naturally brighter, more open eyes. Patient appeared refreshed and balanced, without looking overdone.
