Case Details
This patient in his 60s presented with sleepy eyes that made him look older than he felt.
On evaluation, Dr. Phan noted a significant reduction in the size of his eye openings, known as lid ptosis. This was caused by thinning, stretching, and weakening of the muscles responsible for lifting the eyelids. To address this, Dr. Phan recommended bilateral external ptosis repair. During surgery, through incisions hidden within the natural eyelid creases, Dr. Phan shortened and tightened the levator muscles, allowing the upper eyelids to lift more effectively.
Patient, pictured here 1 month after bilateral external ptosis repair, demonstrated naturally enlarged eye openings and symmetrical eyelid folds. He appeared refreshed and more like himself again, without looking overdone.
