Case Details
This patient in his 60s presented with the concern of heavy eyelid folds. He looked aged and not himself. He recalled having much bigger eyes and having double eyelids.
During evaluation, Dr. Phan noted heavy eyelid hooding, obscuring the eyelid crease, tarsal plate (the space between the eyelid crease and lash line) and eye opening on both sides. The patient actually had appropriate eyelid crease height and large eye opening under the skin folds. Once the excess skin was removed, then the original anatomy will be restored. Dr. Phan, therefore, recommended bilateral upper blepharoplasty.
Patient, pictured here 10-day post bilateral upper lid blepharoplasty, demonstrated no residual heavy hoods overlapping the tarsal plates and minimal bruising and inflammation. Patient's eyes appeared brighter and engaging, while the patient also noted improved his peripheral vision.
